For the first time since the 1980s, Varsity Bowling is making a comeback at Ogdensburg Free Academy.
Beginning in the winter 2025-26 season, OFA will field both a boys and girls varsity bowling team, marking the revival of a program fondly remembered by many in the community.
“This is a rare opportunity to be part of the first Varsity Bowling teams in more than 40 years,” said Superintendent Kevin Kendall. “We can’t wait to see our Blue Devils back on the lanes.”
The program is open to all students in grades 7-12, and no prior competitive bowling experience is required. Practices will be held after school at 11th Frame Lanes Bowling Center in Ogdensburg. Equipment will be provided for those who need it.
OFA teams will compete against other schools in Section X, including Harrisville, Salmon River, Brushton-Moira, Malone and Chateaugay. Student-athletes will also have access to sectional and New York State championship opportunities.
Bowling is a fun and competitive sport that welcomes both experienced bowlers and beginners. Students interested in joining are encouraged to sign up in the 7/8 Office or the High School Office by Sept. 19, 2025. Questions can be directed to Mr. Tessmer.
