The Ogdensburg Free Academy hockey team will be relocated for the 2025-26 season due to construction in the Edgar A. Newell, II Memorial Golden Dome.
This work will include the sealing of the exterior roof, replacement of interior roof insulation, installation of a new dehumidification system, renovation of locker rooms, and the addition of handicapped-accessible restrooms. These enhancements are essential to preserving the long-term viability of the Dome and to providing a safer, more accommodating environment for all who use it.
The City of Ogdensburg has been instrumental in helping the district secure Lockwood Arena for its practices and home games during the closure, ensuring our student-athletes can continue to compete and represent our district with pride.
“We are grateful to our community for their patience and support as we make these critical improvements to one of Ogdensburg’s most treasured facilities,” said Superintendent of Schools Kevin Kendall. “These upgrades will provide long-term benefits for both our student-athletes and the community. While we recognize that this closure presents a temporary challenge, we are fully committed to ensuring our hockey program has the resources and support it needs to thrive during this transition.”
