The proposed 2025-26 Ogdensburg City School District budget was passed with 279 votes to 175 on Tuesday, May 20.
The approved $56,092,979 budget represents a $831,774, or 1.51% increase over the current budget and a 2.49% increase in the tax levy, which is the equivalent of the district’s tax rate 20 years ago in the 2005-06 school year.
“We are grateful for the continued support from our community,” said superintendent Kevin Kendall. “This budget accounts for fiscal challenges facing the district, and will allow for the continuation of high quality education programs for the children of Ogdensburg.”
In addition to the budget proposition, voters approved a Library Referendum Proposition that will increase the levy and collect an annual tax, year after year, separate and apart from the annual school district budget, an increase of $123,692, in addition to the current appropriation of $350,000, for a new total of $473,692. The vote was 232 to 219.
Voters also re-elected Connor G. Sutton and Elizabeth E. Testani to serve five-year terms on the Ogdensburg City School District Board of Education. Connor received 396 votes and Elizabeth 387 votes. There were seven write-in votes.
