Ogdensburg, NY –

The proposed 2023-24 Ogdensburg City School District budget was passed with 82% approval by voters on Tuesday, May 16.

The approved $55,261,205 budget represents a $1,723,550, or 3.22% increase over the current budget and passed 189 votes to 43.

The recent increase in assessed property values in the City of Ogdensburg has raised concern among district residents that the school district is raising tax rates. This 2023-24 budget represents a 0% increase in the tax levy, which has remained unchanged for four consecutive years.

“We are grateful for the continued support from our community,” said superintendent Kevin Kendall. “This budget accounts for fiscal challenges facing the district and will allow for the continuation of high-quality education programs for the children of Ogdensburg while having minimal impact on district taxpayers.”

In addition to the budget proposition, voters approved a Capital Reserve Fund proposition that will allow the district to spend up to $3M on capital outlay projects. The proposition received 182 votes in favor, and 48 against.

Voters also re-elected Pamela J. Luckie to serve a five-year term on the Ogdensburg City School District Board of Education.
