Blue Devils close regular season strong in indoor track; modified wrestlers post wins at Massena

The Ogdensburg Blue Devils turned in strong performances across two winter sports, with the indoor track and field teams placing fourth on both the girls and boys sides at their final regular season meet on Jan. 30 and the modified wrestling team earning multiple podium finishes at the Massena Modified Wrestling Tournament on Jan. 31.

Indoor Track and Field

Several Blue Devils scored points individually. Katie Wilson led the way, winning the 60-meter hurdles, placing second in the high jump and fifth in the long jump. Kellan Sutton captured first in the weight throw and took third in the shot put.

Other point scorers included Abbigail Pratt (fourth, weight throw), Madyson Thomas (fifth, weight throw), Sophia Francis (fourth, 60-meter dash; fifth, 300-meter dash), Ella Ramsdell (fourth, 300-meter dash; fifth, triple jump; seventh, long jump), Levi Biller (fifth, 60-meter dash; third, 300-meter dash), Kresten Ericksen (seventh, 60-meter dash), Trent Havens (third, long jump), Jace Havens (second, long jump) and Dakota Wells (first, triple jump; fifth, long jump).

The Blue Devils also found success in relay events. The girls 4×200-meter relay featured Marisol Bertrand, Kendall Honeywell, Ellah Bouchey and Francis. The boys 4×200-meter relay included Ericksen, Carter Barkley, Tavion Richardson and Wells. The girls 4×400-meter relay team consisted of Gracyn Barkley, Honeywell, Bouchey and Emmilyn TenEyck, while the boys 4×800-meter relay included Andrew Davis, Stanley LaFave, Payden Merz and Aidan Moran.

Modified Wrestling

At the Massena Modified Wrestling Tournament, Ogdensburg competed against Beekmantown, Malone, Massena, Saranac and Salmon River. No team scores were kept.

Declan Richardson and Devlin Richardson each went 4-0 to earn first-place finishes. Cayden Trimm also claimed first place with a 2-0 record. Zavier Grenier placed second (1-1), while Kayden Kendall (0-2), Elliot Schneller (1-3), Ralph Vicente (2-2) and Bentley Dishaw (2-1) all finished third. Drake Frances went 0-4 and did not place.
