The district seeks to create an environment free of harassment, bullying, and discrimination; to foster civility in its schools; and to prevent conduct that is inconsistent with its educational mission. The district, therefore, prohibits all forms of harassment and bullying of students by employees or other students on school property and at school functions. The district further prohibits discrimination against students, including, but not limited to, discriminatory acts based on a person’s actual or perceived race, color, weight, national origin, ethnic group, religion, religious practice, disability, sexual orientation, gender, or sex by school employees or other students on school property and at school functions that take place at locations off school property. In addition, other acts of harassment, bullying, or discrimination that can reasonably be expected to materially and substantially disrupt the education process may be subject to discipline or other corrective action.
No student shall be discriminated against, bullied or harassed based on:
- Actual or Perceived Race
- Religion
- Color
- Religious Practice
- National Origin
- Disability
- Weight
- Sexual Orientation
- Ethnic Group
- Gender or Sex
- Any other legally protected status
It is important to keep in mind that the intent of the law is to protect ALL students. For example, while height is not specifically addressed by the law, a student harassed for being short or tall would also be protected.
View the Dignity for All Students Policy.
Report an Incident
Report alleged bullying, harassment, or discrimination that occurred on OCSD property, at a OCSD sponsored activity or event (on or off school property), on a OCSD bus, or cyberbullying that occurred on or off OCSD campus. Any person observing the bullying, harassment or discrimination of a student should use this form to report their observation.
DASA Coordinators
The DASA Coordinator for each school is the school principal. Any student or parent can go directly to the Dignity Act Coordinator should there be concerns.
