School Nutrition Program Regulations

The School lunch and breakfast programs are regulated by State and Federal mandates to ensure balanced, nutritious meals to all students.

Each complete lunch menu is developed to meet 1/3 of the daily recommended nutrients for students while maintaining a maximum of 30%  or less fat content.  (30% fat content based on “complete” lunch)

A complete lunch consists of:

2 oz.  Meat or meat alternate

¾ cup combination of vegetables and fruits

8 fluid oz. Milk

1 and 1/2 serving of bread or bread alternate (8 servings per week)

Students must select at least 3 of the 5 lunch components offered, to be considered a complete lunch.

Alternates to the main menu are not required but we are proud to offer every day:

12 alternate entrée’ options at O.F.A. grades 7-12     View O.F.A. main entree' alternates and

Additionally, our Food Services Program offers a FREE nutritious meal supplement to students every day for Breakfast and Lunch.   Students may select scrumptious dried cherries in a cup after they have consumed a complete lunch or breakfast consisting of all food components.  The FREE supplements is intended as a nutritious enhancement filler to the complete breakfast or lunch consumed by students with more hearty appetites.

A complete breakfast consists of:

2 servings of bread OR combination of 1 oz. Meat/meat alternate with 1 serving of bread

½ cup fruit or vegetable or combination

8 oz. Fluid milk

Students must select at least 3 of the 4 breakfast components offered, to be considered a complete breakfast.

Ogdensburg City School District menus exceed the minimum nutrient portion requirements while maintaining LESS than 30% fat content.

Our Food Services program operates independently.   It does NOT receive any “local” tax dollars from the Ogdensburg School District’s general fund in the form of a fund transfer or subsidy.   We operate solely on State and Federal reimbursement along with breakfast, lunch and ala-carte sales.
