Mission Statement:

   The Social Studies program is designed to promote citizenship participation, college preparation and the skills necessary to become a functioning member of the community. Each course of study in the Social Studies sequence utilizes an inter-disciplinary approach whenever possible to develop attitudes and understandings essential to responsible citizenship.  The Social Studies program is intended to develop the knowledge, skills and understanding helpful to the establishments of satisfying human relationships.  Study and communication skills, clear and logical thought processes, and continued growth in civic competence are ultimate goals; as are an appreciation of the moral and ethical values that are the legacy of our heritage.
